The 60's saw the beginning of Timeshare development, and as the trend of timesharing increased into the 70's a new concept appeared where owners of timeshare weeks were able to swap their week with another owner's week.
This concept of trading vacation weeks was referred to as "timeshare exchange". In 1974, the first timeshare exchange company RCI was formed to assist owners in the trading of their weeks. This formation of the first exchange company led to many other start-up companies. Interval International soon followed RCI by launching their own exchange company in 1976.
Trading Places International opened its doors in 1973 as a travel agency, and eventually we would take on the role as an exchange company in the early 80's. As of today, Trading Places International has grown its business to over a hundred resorts within its vacation network.
